This weekend was split between two projects, the floor and the back yard. You can see a
progress report on the backyard here. I needed
to get some work done outside before some storms arrived, but also wanted to be able to
make progress on getting the subfloor down before the rain. I was able to get the subfloor
laid as well as the polyethelene underlayment on Saturday. Sunday was the flooring, aside from
a transition into the closet and the room it is all done. Since I am planning on this being a
temporary floor, say 5-8 years, I used 1/4 round instead of removing the baseboard. Now all that
is left is to move everything back into the room!

A bit of progress was made but not as much as I had hoped. The old subfloor is gone but the
tar paper that was down had to be pulled up as well. I unfortunately had to focus on the
backyard more than I wanted to this weekend as we are getting some more rain storms and I
need to try and keep water from getting into the crawlspace. Hopefully, next weekend I can get
tar paper down and start on the new subfloor.

Woof! It has been quite the month since my last post on this project. After recovering from
an ilness after some business travel and attending a wedding I was able to get back at this
project. I was able to get the carpet and padding removed 3 weeks ago before the ilness hit.
For disposal I used bagster, I have used them a couple of times now and really like the process.
The pick up fee being $250 is a little steep but it makes up for it in conveience, especially with
the bulky carpet and padding.
I was able to get a decent amount of the sub-floor up, it was a busy weekend getting things back
on track after the wedding so I wasn't able to dedicate the entire weekend to the project. Next weekend
I will be getting the rest of the sub-floor up, but the new sub-floor down and start on the flooring.

I have a pretty bad habit of having multiple projects in the works at one time. The second
project that is happening is renovating the guest room. The carpet is in a sorry state, the
previous owner tried to have it cleaned but you can see dirt around the entire room. I have
already removed the carpet and replaced it with engineered hardoowd in the primary bedroom
and my office. The process isn't hard but it is definitely a temporary solution. In the long
run I would like to either replace, or have all of the flooring on the first floor replaced.
The reason that both of these projects are happening at once is I cannot get my workbench
completed until I get the old carpet from the sewing room thrown out and I am not able to do
that until I can fill the bagster. Hence, the old carpet from the guest room. Once the carpet
comes up my wife is going to do some painting so while that happens I will be able to get back
to the workbench project.
